Mural art: Getting started

The first group activity as a Graphic Design student seems to be very interesting. I am not sure if I am excited or not for this since we get to paint the wall in the student lounge at the same time its going to remain there for maybe the nest 2-3 years! everyone is going to be judging our skills so much that I think we need to do a really good job at this!!

So my group name is “Pixalies” since all of us are really interested in pixel art.

We decided to start off with things we already have; the paint splash image below and the cardboard man are both from previous design tech assignments which we pixelated. Our intent is to paint in a pixelated style that looks really simple and cool from a distance but complex as you come close. We also looked at other ideas such as pointillism and zodiac sign constellations that are basically just tiny circles coming together to create complex shapes.

In a time period of one day, we came up with the following ideas:

Based on student and professor critiques, we have decided to go for the below one which also follows the same technique of using pixels to create circles, squares, triangles and lines.
